my mum is wanting to purchase a �30 nokia phone on the marks & spencers network. i have said that she would be better getting one on a network like 02, virgin, vodaphone, or t mobile.
what do people think?

Not sure why you think that. Virgin don't have their own network, so they are not that different from M&S. I would think it just comes down to comparing tariffs. M&S donn't seem very cheap, but they do have a very straightforward tafiff which is published on their site:
