Well it's debatable. I think it's a lady called Vera Ward Hall (aka Vera or Adel Ward) who recorded "Another Man Done Gone" back in the 1930's which is the first track on an album called "Deep River of Song" which you can find on Amazon.com (including a 30 sec sample) However the sample is very scratchy so it might be a different version rerecorded but not by her as she died in 1962. The song itself is an Alabama chain gang song and you can find the lyrics on the web fairly easily. If you really want to find out who sang it try calling the advertising agency who put it all together for Lever Faberge - the agency are Bartle Bogle Hegarty telephone 0207 453 4610 - ask for Sarah Pollard - come on you have to do some of the work. When you find out please post the answer here for the other sufferers.
