Name of an old TV series
9 Answers
Can someone help, there used to be a tv series several years ago, the opening sequence was shot in black and white, set i think in around the 40's, i believe there is some sort of car accident. The theme tune was, i believe, that 'What is a youth' sung by Nino Rota, also comes on the Radio (R1) for those lovers stories. I know very wishy washy but can anyone think back and remember the name of the tv series ? Help !

The crash is shown in the open credits, but I seem to recall the music is played by the boy himself, on a flute (he's a professional flautist or something). If this isn't the programme being sought after here, does anybody else know the one I'm on about? It's bugged me for years. Oh, and sorry if I'm inadvertantly hijacking this thread!
Nice to know someone else out there remembers this, Celinov. For years it was a case of "...or did I dream it?" I have an inkling the programme was a children's drama, shown at weekends (in the LWT region), and might have been dubbed, because IIRC a lot of it was set on the Continent (possibly Germany?). Might be wrong though.
Don't know if you're still there, Celinov, but I've found out the name of the programme I was thinking of. It was called Barriers and was shown in 1983. Look it up on http://tv.cream.org/.
Hope this is the one you're thinking of too. Oh, and it wasn't a flute, it was a cello. Easy mistake to make...
