I think if you added up the number of current adverts that present men as stupid and incompetent and compare them with the number that do the same for women, you'd find that women come out of it looking very good.
In fact, the 'man being stupid' joke is pretty much the default gag for advertisers when they can't think of anything original.

its just a bab advert - nevermind the sexism or whatever.
Im more offended by the ones that show men in all kinds of states of undress (eg the wash powder one where the guy has his clothes nicked in a series of drive-bys) and its portrayed as amusing, whereas you know full well if it was a woman as the subject thered be cries of sexual harrassment, it being degrading, yada yada yada
