Could it be John Lee Hooker? His song Boom Boom was used for a Levi advert.
I didn't think it was for Levi's but I remember an advert with a marching band and I think they used Heart Attack And Vine by Screaming Jay Hawkins
Heart Attack And Vine as recorded by Screaming Jay Hawkins was indeed used, briefly, in a Levis campaign. The song was written by Tom Waits, who objected to its use in a commercial, and it was withdrawn. TW's version is on the LP (wait for it... 'Heart Attack & Vine'. SJH's version is on the LP 'Black Music For White People'. Both highly recommended.
