Ruined Jacket caused by Hairdressing Salon
Hi - my brand new jacket that I bought in the sales was ruined on Friday by bleach in a salon. I was not given an apron but covered by a towel around my shoulders. Rang Salon who said they would reimburse me the cost of my jacket. Problem is the jacket has been sold out & even if they could get me one it would not be at the sale price. Where do I stand with the Hairdressing Salon, as none of this is my fault! ? Any advice would be greatly received as I have to go and see them tomorrow.

As far as i can see the salon have offered to reimburse you the cost of the jacket, what more do you want from them?It is partly your fault for wearing a new jacket in the first place. Accept the money and learn a lesson from it.
thats a bit harsh auzzie .maybe the jackett was very expencive and she didnt want it to be nicked.if she hung it on a hook .valace take it to the dry cleaners they might be able re dye it wait for an answer of a fellow called judge something i have ,read his answers and he is great.good luck with your coat and christmas is comming maybe you will be given a coat just as nice
Speculation aside...Order a new jacket and pay up front...keeping the receipt! The simply head down to the salon, produce the receipt and Bob's your uncle...it may also help to take a webpage image and description of the jaket (That tallies with your receipt description) so they can see you have indeed ordered the same jacket again. I always find that being amiable and friendly will allow restitution to be much smoother. The salon also seem to have been reasonable. Good luck!
Hi all - thanks for taking the time to respond. In answer to auzzie - I was on my way home from work & called in on the off chance & they fitted me in. I thought they would have asked me to remove my jacket but instead put a towel around my shoulders on over my lap whilst discussing what they thought would look good in my hair. It was my first visit so I did not know what the procedure in the salon was. Wrongly I automatically assumed they would take my jacket & give me an apron.
Shazzzz - that is a great idea of trying the dry cleaners. I will do that tomorrow, so fingers crossed.
Gmcd01 - I rang the shop that I got the jacket from & the sale is over with no jackets left although they did say they would check with other stores & let me know on Monday but it would not be at the sale price.
I only wanted to know where I might stand if the shop find me a jacket at a cost of the original price of 50? do I just accept the 10 goodwill gesture from the salon & book myself onto a confidence building course??!! as I honestly am finding this so worrying as I don't want to come across as a money grabbing person!
