Ariel now do washing powder that they reckon can be used effectively on a 30 degrees wash. Has anyone tried this and does it live up to what the packaging says? Im not sure I fancy washing towels at this temperature as I usually wash them at 60 and wont feel like they're clean at 30 degrees! Thanks in advance

30 degree washes are the norm in most of Europe and the USA.

The Ariel 30 is excellent.
I use fairy and do it on a 30 and it all comes out fine saves energy as well
Could you not do a seperate towel wash - that's what I do, putting all my tea towels in with them and washing at 60 degrees. You could then do ordinary dark and white washes at 30 degrees.
I do all my wash in cold water and I feel confident that even towels and very dirty clothes get clean. I have found that powders often do not dissolve, leaving clumps of powder stuck to clothes, so I use liquid detergent. However, I am not familiar with the Ariel brand.
i wahs all but the most dirty (I have 3 under ) on 30 degrees and have always done so and just use regular washing powder. The only one which isn't particularly good at any temp is ecover, which is really sad as I wanted so much to use it.

However, if you are thinking that 30 won't kill the bugs, then you could just add a few teaspoons of napisan into the drawer with the powder as this will sanitise the wash as well as brightening whites and you still get to save energy.

Also, if you hang your towels and sheets on the line, the sun shine (when we get it ) and UV light in general kill bugs and bleach out marks and kill dustmite eggs. I do this as my son has dust mite allergy and then I just tumble them for a few minutes to fluff them up.

hope this helps.
