Good RPG on the PC
I'm after a good, long, RPG for the PC. Doesn't have to be a new game, would be happy with an oldie as long as someone raves about it.
Absolutely loved the Final Fatasy games with good story lines, lots to explore, weapon uprgades etc etc.
Not bothered about it being played on-line as I want a social life too! Any thoughts.
TIA

I am not into RPG's personally but I know people that are and these are supposed to be very addictive. There is a monthly fee to play them, but it isn't too expensive (around 10 I think).

Can't recommend World of Warcraft enough! Ruddy awesome game. Mind you, it's not a cheap game to play I guess. It's about 15.00 to buy, which is cheap enough I guess but a further 15.00 per month as it's online. However the gameplay more than makes up for it.
You can, if interested, try a 10day free trial period, to check it out before buying.

Thanks for you throughts guys but do you know of any that you don't play online?
I know what i'm like and I'll probably get too hooked (espicially if there are other people actually involved in my game play too) and the fiancee will go spare!
Fancy a game that I can just sit down an play and save at my own pace really. I know i'll get sucked in other wise!!!

Have a look at `Anachronox` is has been out a while (2001), and if you like the FF games you will love it.
It is one of my favourite RPG`s on any system. Single player, great story line, genuinely funny, lots to collect and a battle system simular to FF.

By far the best RPG's I have ever played are the following:
Planescape: Torment - awesome story, brilliant NPC's
Fallout - short but immensley satisfying
Fallout 2 - much longer than the original
Baldurs Gate 2 - Epic classic RPG that epitomises the genre and sets the standard.
To my mind, Oblivion is not a true RPG, it is more an action adventure. Plus it was a bag of ****.
