I know that you can play the Game Cube games on the Wii console, but do you have to buy anything extra to play these games?
Do you need to buy the 'classic' controller, or can you use the Wii remote ( I know the movement stuff won't work, but just the basics like directions etc)?

Any advice much appreciated!

Ah, thanks!
Thing is, I don't have a Game Cube! I was just gonna buy a game or two (you can picke them up quite cheap in some of the shops just now), you know to tide me over till a few more games come out on the Wii.
Thanks for the help though!
You have to have a game cube controller. The Remote doesn't have anywhere near enough buttons to be able to replicate the controller.

Thanks, looks like I'd need to buy the Wii 'Classic' controller then!
I could be wrong but I don't think the classic controller will work either, that's meant for the games you download.

You could just buy an old game second hand cube controller as the Wii has ports for those in the top of it.

This will do the trick and cheaper than the classic controller.

Cheers for that, I had looked in one of the shops, but they didn't even have a Game Cube console to buy, let alone the handset!
Thanks for the advice.
My advice would be to get a Gamecube controller.

The reason for this is, you can use this controller for most classic games and also for all Cube games.

You'll probably find yourself buying a few Cube games to tide you over, until the next lot of Wii games comes along. There are quite a few you might be interested in:

Mario Kart Double Dash (play it with two or three others, to enjoy it most)

Resident Evil One Remake and Resident Evil 4

F-Zero GX

Pikmin 1 or 2

Thanks FrancisB, yeah, Resident Evil had already caught my eye!
The resident evil zero game on the gamecube is terrifying! I get about 4 paces in, can't deal with the spooky noises and hit the off button so if you're a wimp like me, I wouldn't go for that one
