Redundancy following maternity leave
Hello, I had my baby in November 05 and was not due back at work until November 06. My partner who worked at the same place as myself was constantly approached by my managers asking him to get me to return my work options form as soon as possible as there were lots of changes happening at work and if I didn't get return it they could not guarantee i would get the hours i wanted. I felt under so much pressure so I returned the form and reduced my hours from 20hrs to 15hrs week (this is purely because I could not get any more child care for the extra 5hrs) I told my manager that i needed to work the 20hrs so would increase my hours as soon as I could get child care. I worked 4 days at this reduced hours and was told that I would be made redundant and any payments would be based on 15hs not my previous hours. I am trying to fight this on ethical grounds but the company are not budging, I have worked for them for 17yrs and this means a loss of 6000.00 to me at a time when i need it. Any Ideas how to approach them?

Only got paid redundancy on the 2 1/2 days . went to a sol but they said it was more touble that it was worth & that the co didnt not even have to offer me what I was geting anyway. So rub salt in my boss left that week took 2 weeks holiday but started a training course (new job basically)with a new co & still got a full redundancy package. His boss warned him !!! get that.
