half ton hospital
I watched this last week and again last night I cant really see where the hospital manager is coming from re:patients cheating and bringing in food, its supposed to be a hospital so he can stop them from ordering take outs it seems a bit strange, I know a clamp down was mentioned last night but it seemed a bit late in the day as someone had died what do you think of this hospitals methods?

I'm guessing that these people are at the hospital volontarily and can do what they want. Whereas if they were treated as if they were mentally ill instead of physically ill they could be sectioned and contact with the outside world would be monitored.

I was amazed when they said that one of the female patients had been there for two years and hadn't lost any weight! I also have to admit that any sympathy I had for her was almost completely gone by the end of the programme, she just didn't seem to help herself, despite saying that she wanted to get out of there and spend time with her young daughter. As for the hospital manager....just couldn't figure him out at all!
Im definately with you there libertie, about the manager he said re the cheating ect, that some of the patients died because they couldnt live with the strict rules re 1500 calories and checked out of the hospital but If it was me I'D Sleep better at night knowing I tried to help, if people dont want to help themsleves there is nothing you can do, also in last weeks programme there was a guy 55 stone had been in there for 4 years and hadnt lost a pound! that just seems crazy this guy was literally phoning for pizza from the hospital bed.
The patients are there voluntarily BUT there is a long waiting list, so the ones that have been there for 2 years or so, not losing any weight, should be booted out and give their place to somone else who might be more serious about losing weight and living ! Not too sure who actually pays for their stay, but the Manager must be making money ot of it ?! If they were more stricter and NOT ALLOW takeaway deliveries at all, that hospital would soon be empty !
