Dose anyone remember the name and nature of the late 70's/early 80's where there was a purple glass box at the begining on a cushion that used to turn around, its driving me mad!

there was one shown on the big night in thing on atm with the shaun of the dead guys called "The Box of Delights" don't know what it was exactly about, as just seen some clips, looks like a lad found this box n it was magic, it could send him back in time, give him the power of flight and make him miniature

I agree with kempie - the theme music had a "carousel"-type feel to it, and sounded like someone running a wet finger on a wine glass rim. I think it was a storytelling-and-documentary programme for schoolkids.
The programme you refer to is as mentioned above titled 'Picture Box' however the presenter was Paul Johnes, you may or not know this, but he was also the lead singer in Manfred Man..
I also say Picture Box, which I remember was indeed presented by Alan Rothwell, and
