I'm very much into modern chinese/japaese/genral asian culture. I like a lot of the films (John woo, j-horror, jet li, tony leung etc) and also am getting into the literature (Haruki Murakami (spelling??), Koji Suzuki) . I was just wondering if any one could recommend any good modern asaian authors whosework has been translated into english?

Never read any, but Yukio Mishima is supposed to be good. Also (can't be bothered to look up the author) the novel that "Battle Royale" is based on is supposed to better than the movie.

Thanks, have both Battle Royale novel and the graphic novel version. (and special edition film and sequel) but will look up Yukio Mishima
what about Haruki Murakami? I read one and it was good, if a bit weird. He's available at amazon etc.
Oops, just realised you mention him in your question. Doh!
