Because a kid in a playground ran up behind one of his mates and did the 'you've been tangoed' thing - on his ears rather than his cheeks. The kids got a perferated eardrum and badly damaged his ears. The doctor who saw the kid rang up the Tango people, told them what happened and they pulled the advert and changed it to the bloke being 'tangoed' on the cheeks, rather than round the ears.

Afriad I'm easily old enough to remember the ad (stonking!), and the dumb furore that it caused. NOT a tricky question really freak, too many old timers use AB!! Question for you.....in the same ad, who did the football style commentary over the action replay of the slap???
Ray Wilkins at his most animated
spot on splodger of course. Too funny...I love Rays footie commentaries anyway, but that was classic.
Just a point of fact, they didn't change it fromn the ears to the cheeks. It was never an ear slap. They changed it from the original cheek slap to the Orange guy planting a big kiss on the guy.
