How/who to complain to in British Gas. Over the years we have had several run ins with them. The latest being their engineer wanted to go upstairs and I would not let him as he would not remove or cover his shoes. We do not wear our outdoor shoes in the house. He said dont you have any sheets? My reply to my husband was, this is why I cant stand British Gas, to which the engineer said you had better get someone else then! What I would like to know is why do we spend hundreds of pounds a year for home cover when this is the sort of response you get. We used to have drain cover until they wanted to charge us extra to lift the manhole covers!!!!!! One nice engineer used my bathroom toilet without asking and left me a nice present without flushing. Charming!

its a bit late to complain about these previous incidents that stretch back over years. Personally i agree with the engineer - why use them if you are so disappointed with their service? There are plenty of other companies that provide home cover/boiler cover, so ditch BG and get one of the others
exactly, they do usually bring shoe covers but they are not legally allowed to remove their shoes for health and safety reasons.

We have had a good experience with them, and we just use our own inititative and put down some old sheets ourselves. Less hassle than getting peeved with BG.
If you are not happy with them go to someone else.

If you do wish to complain then write to the Chairmans office as they get dealt with immediately.
You are being very petty re shoes - if they are servicing the equipment properly and fulfilling the contract, all well and good.
If he had removed his shoes and injured his foot in any way - you would be sued.

Go elsewhere - your attitude towards BG is colouring your view of them.

i agree that you should vote with your feet, but i do not think you petty. i have to stay with b.gas cos i need the landlord gas cert they do, but ive had lots of problems with them in the past....the worst of which when they broke the vintage style cystern i had, left water p*ssing out all over my bath room, legged it out of the house saying they needed a part and the engineer didnt come back. they then said it was my fault it was not afixed properly (it was like that when i moved in several years prior). i argued that the engineer should have done a basic check to ensure it was ok to start his work.... they eventually replaced it with a cheap cystern, no where near as decorative.... and like i say though, thats only the worst incident, there have been may others. if you succeed in complaining you will probably get a 20 voucher, which can only be redeemed against the renewal of your maintenance contract. some compensation!
I think you are being petty.
In an emergency a neighbour once phoned asking me to look at a leaking cistern. I ran over but she refused me entry until I removed my shoes. I declined, went home and her bathroom flooded.

To those of you who think I am petty I would just say RESPECT . It is about respecting other peoples property and the people themselves. We have worked damned hard to build a lovely home. We both work and have never asked anyone for anything. You people obviously do not have respect and sadly it is missing in the world today. Have you ever looked at the pavements covered in spit, dog dirt, chewing gum etc left their by people who have no respect. I do not want that bringing into my house. Would you go into someones house and use the toilet without asking? I think not.
Good on ya !!.

I had a bloke who was drunk ******* on my drive the other night.

I bashed him so hard,he fell into the puddle he had made.

The moral - When your on someones property or in their house you play by the rules.

Who do these engineers think they are ?.
