I can remember an advert in which a lady gets something in her eye and a man in a uniform (perhaps train driver) says - 'try pulling your eyelid down as far as it will go and then blowing your nose. @ I have no idea what it was for and no one seems to remember it. Any ideas?

Not sure about the advert, but it's from a scene in the classic movie "Brief Encounter"
