It's based on Pink Floyd's Come On No 51 Your Time is Up from the album Zabriskie Point , which is similar to their "Careful With That Axe Eugene" on various compilations.

Yes, well - surely the ad is a Zabriskie Point ripoff - as I proved to my teenage children recently (isn't Dad a bore?), by showing them the slo-mo end of Zabriskie Point, which I just happened to have on tape - because this, for me, was the best part of the whole film.

It did make me think that either the ad's originators were of a certain age (like me) - or younger film buffs who'd seen Zabriskie Point - or guys who had been shown this bit, thought "Wow - gotta use that. Surely no-one will notice our little rip-off - or if they do, think we're frightfully clever."

Mmmm. Don't tell me someone independently thought of laying ultra slo-mo pictures against Pink Floyd music.

But at the end of the day - if it's effective - which it is, then why not? Is it inspiration? Plagiarism? Or homage?
I've been telling my teenage kids too that this is a copy of "Come in Number 51 You're Time is Up" from the explosion sequence in Zabriskie Point but they didn't believe me!
