Renault Clio makes clunking noise

My renualt clio has just started making a clunking noise when I put it in reverse, the noise comes from the rear and today it wouldnt move until i changed the gears a few times, now it's clunking when I put it in reverse too, but does not do it any other time, does anyone know why?
