Britains Got Talent voting figures
5 Answers
I wrote to ITV to obtain all the voting figures for the semi finals and final of Britains Got Talent
They gave me a web site link, which only showed the winning percentages.
I wrote to them again to obtain the actual number of telephone votes cast, but they refused to to give out this information, saying it is unavailable.
It appears that ITV have got something to hide. Why?
PS the web link is:- http://talent.itv.com/news/story/item_100233.h tm

Surely under Freedom of Information, the voting figures should be made available.
My guess is, the total votes cast dont actually exist, and they are never counted in the first place. ITV probably count the first 1000 votes that come in, and then work out their percentages from that.

I'd be surprised if that were so, given the embarrassment over recent phon-in voting scandals over naming Blue Peter cats and so on. More likely they just can't be bothered. I have no idea if the Freedom of Information act applies to subo, but if so you'd have to frame your request corrrectly to invoke it.
