Sheena Easton was the embryonic 'pop idol' - she featured in a documentary about a girl from Glasgow who wanted to be a singer. the results succeeded beyond anyone's expectations. Sheena easton went on to massive success in the U.S., recording with Prince, and enjoying massive TV and radio exposure. the rather twee 'Nine To Five' was soon shunted aside in favour of Prince's 'Sugar Walls' which was risque enough to be banned by several radio stations. Still recording and appearing in the U.S., Ms easton has left her Glasgow roots - and her route to stardom - far behind,
9 To 5 was a top 3 hit for Sheena in the UK in 1980. It also hit the number one spot in the US a year later, where it was re-titled Morning Train (9 To 5) so as to avoid confusion with Dolly Parton's very different 9 To 5 which had been number one just a few weeks previously.
