Fiat Punto radiator
5 Answers
My wife has an 03 plate Fiat Punto and we noticed that while driving, the temperature guage goes up to half-way for a while then three quarters, back to half way and so on.
It used to just stay at the half way mark. Any idea why this might be? We topped the radiator up and could see no obvious leaks.
Thanks.

Hi,
I hope for your sake the H/Gasket has not gone, there may be a possibility that the Temp Gauge is faulty but I doubt that. should the worse case, you are talking in the region of 200>> 300 depending on who does the work, Eg/ dealer!! Sky's the limit, again on the worse get the cam belt +tension er done at the same time.

Hi, you either need a rad thermostat switch or a thermostat, these are prone for Head Gaskets I'm afraid to say, do not take the chance otherwise you will pay the price, If you cannot sort the problem out your self get someone to check it for you. I have just sorted out a Head with my Granddaughters car with the same problem, there is water in the system is there? check with a cold engine.

Just thought I'd let you know that we got the car back eventually and it was the head gasket. He also put a new cam belt kit on, changed the oil and put in antifreeze, a bit of welding and some other small jobs.
Altogether it came to £400 which was better than we thought it was going to be.
Thanks again for your advice.
