MM and KM Links November 2009 [Week 4]
26 Answers
Good Evening AB Linkers, everywhere!
Wind, rain, gales, floods - we've experienced them all this week. Except, that is, for Crofter who has been sampling the more tropical climate of Tenerife. Today though, it is time to return to reality as Crofter flies home, hopefully in time for tomorrow' MM Links game.
And while we are talking of tomorrow's game, can Strix fight off the challenge from grannydi and tearinghair? What plotting will be going on in the shrubbery? Who will get locked in the p(l)otting shed? Will Sarumite's magic mushrooms have any bearing on the outcome? What I do know though is that to be in with a chance of bonus points, the best advice is to get out of the shrubbery as fast as you can as soon as the gates open at 9:00am. The best supporting evidence for that is the glut of 21 bonus points handed out last weekend. Can you better that this week?
This is the final game of the month so the new setter will be chosen on the results of November's games. Who will it be?
Last Friday I mentioned that I was having problems with my colour laser printer. This week I can report that it is now cleaned and back together once more. It is even producing prints that are better than it has managed for over a year! ART - TRA quizzes are now back in production.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Crofter's opening remarks will be posted in Q & P at 8.45am tomorrow and the four words to be linked should be declared at 9.00am, when the MM Links game kicks off in earnest. Remember, play early if possible because first hits can gain bonus points!
Remember, this is also the final round in the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at 7:00 am (or very soon thereafter). In that game, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz and goes by the name of “seekeerz”. As Crofter always says ~ “Why not chance your arm at both Link Games?” They both remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards.
Until Crofter (or I) see you tomorrow ~ “Happy Linking”!
The 'Shrubbery' is now open.

tearinghair & x-ray,
The quiz is not supposed to drive you demented - every answer fits its clue exactly. Just take it slow and steady and enjoy it. Maybe a cushion tied to the backside would be a good idea if you get the urge to kick yourself too frequently.
You could try the method that a local friend is trying - he discusses a clue with his wife before going to sleep, and then he wakes up around 3:30 am with the answer.
Actually, I tried to make just 5 of them particularly hard in order to sort out the top puzzlers. The rest I would call just standard crossword clues.
Lots of time still left.

I have asked for a phone, as I always get the oldest cast offs in the family
so want one of my own with instructions that I can read and sort out myself
but not on Christmas day when I have had a drink!

Thanks pauline, but red gives me an upset stomach - got a nice sauvignon blanc? Or are you all trying to stay sober ready for the linking tomorrow?
My thoughts this week have been with the folks over in Cumbria, it's been really bad for them and they have my sympathy.
Cheers - I've found a glass of Nobilo

Haven't bought any presents yet apart from the ones for family in California; I prefer the atmosphere in the town centre in the final few days before Christmas. People still walk into you but smile while they're doing it......
Eight clues to go, Gen2, plus two answers I'm not sure about. Don't get me wrong, I do like to be driven insane!
