i have a friend who reckons another friend of hers gets really nasty when she drinks wine, but doesn't when she drinks gin. i think this is probably because she actually drinks more units of alcohol when she's drinking wine as it slips down more easily and she doesn' realise how much she's actually had. alcohol is alcohol isn't it? there's no difference in the alcohol in wine, gin , beer, baileys, etc. i know the alcohol strength is different in each drink, but alcohol is alcohol is alcohol surely, there's not one kind that makes you nasty and one kind that doesn't?
just wondering what anyone's thoughts are on this.
I've heard alot of people say that gin makes them depressed. Not being a gin drinker I can't confirm this. Certainly I'd say there are subtle differences in alcohols and the effect they can have on you. Varying distillation/brewing processes can produce different variations of alcohol (fusel alcohol as example) which will no doubt effect different people in different ways.
