I went on go compare, for home insurance and found loads of companies cheaper than Barclays who we are with. Problem is our building and contents policy doesn't run out til July 2010. Can I cancel with Barclays now (We pay monthly) or will they demand a penalty? Also some of the cheaper companies on go compare I have never heard of, is it wise to stick to a well known one? Is it too risky to go with unknowns?

Most will let you cancel and give you a part refund minus an admin fee. I would google reviews before choosing someone you've never heard of. I've had to claim with Barclays and must say they were brilliant.

Thanks Bushbaby, Barclays said they would charge us £32 penalty to stop the insurance now, but its still cheaper to change. Will do that with the reviews
