Junk Mail.....
13 Answers
When I get junk mail I always stick a label on the address box and write the return address on it, I then put on the front "Not known at this address, sender please delete from your records" - Over time my junk mail had virtually ceased, I know this works because when you use the return address it costs the sender money so it is in their interests to remove you from their database if at all possible. Anyway, on occcassion, some numpty at the post office removes my label and sends it back to me. Can anyone tell me why they would do this? It doesn't work because I then blank out the address completely and repeat the process. Are they just being annoying on purpose or is their some logic to this. If everyone did this junk mail would end and we'd save thousands of trees!

dzug, that's sod all to do with the post office, junk mailers have to supply a return address, I just save the poost office the trouble by writing it on the front. Surely the Post office couldn't care less where they deliver something.

I do virtually the same except I just write "not known at this address" on the label over my address if the return address is elsewhere on the envelope. Seems to work.
If you want to really get to the junk mailers, if there's a postage paid envelope inside, rip up the junk mail and pos it back inside this envelope.

That is very odd Geezer - must be some ' numpty' as you say , playing a pratical joke
That is the exception rather than the rule .
Royal Mail are required under their Charter to return that post to the sender - and get this - Royal Mail bearing the costs themselves - not the sender . I kid you not .
You would be suprised at the number of RTS post that Royal Mail deals with every day , the costs of which would go someway to plugging their pension black hole

Isn't it a bit short-sighted to put 'Royal Mail Only' on your letter box?.
Many firms these days use different delivery firms, supposedly to save money. My local council is one of them, so I wouldn't want my Council Tax bill not being delivered.
In any case, whichever delivery firm they use, it is still delivered by Royal Mail
