The change of heart came about following a police interview with the murdered burglar’s accomplice. Originally he had said that he had been chased by Mr Roberts after he had been stabbed. The prosecution relied upon this boy’s evidence to secure a conviction. His radical change of story means any evidence he may have given would be discredited.
