Sympathy for the Butterbean
4 Answers
I have some sympathy with Butterbean. I do not think this site works as well as it first did. For example, you get a choice of viewing (a) the 20 most recent questions (b) 700-odd answered questions (c) a similar number of unanswered questions.
The recent questions turn over pretty rapidly, often in the space of a day or two. Because you can no longer move onto another 20 questions, you are left with options (b) and (c). This means that questions which you post which are not answered within a very short space of time may never get answered, unless someone can be bothered to look through all of the unanswered questions. The only option then is to repost it, which still runs the same risk.
The solutions seem to be either (i) giving the advert enquiries their own section so that other enquiries get more of a chance and/or allowing more than 20 'recent' questions. Does anyone else have a view, or any better ideas?

But I agree with you, Lord Panda, though the problem is worse in some sections than others. And no doubt about it -- the ad music questions are the problem. The editorial team here should look at doing something about it. Oh, and duplicate questions ought to be deleted as well!
Hive off all the advert stuff. I'm 90% convinced it's only sad coked up ad execs who post the majority of such queries. Besides which, there are dedicated sites for such things.
The answerbank can and does serve an interesting and educational purpose, but it's bogged down with rubbish from people to thick to use a search engine.
Yes, there are improvements that could be made to the site. S/he didn't have to be so unpleasant about making his/her petulant little point, is the problem. It's hardly the fault of those who use and enjoy the site every day. Oh dear, I'm starting to sound petulant myself now . . . time I went and answered "fourteen" to somebody . . .
There's the frustration about not getting an answer-and the flip side about having provided one. A while ago I posted an answer about the group Spirit. The original question poster came back with a post about my "flip attitude" (which was never intended) rather than being grateful about getting an answer at all.
