Les Dawson

To many Les Dawson was a comedy icon and was admired by many including myself.

His widow Tracy has kept the house in St Anne´s ( or Lytham) as a shrine to her late husband with pictures of him all over the house and indeed has devoted her life to the daughter Charlotte who is following in her father´s footsteps on the stage.

Now Tracy is,at a guess, mid to late 50´s and is still an attractive woman and may not wish to marry again, devoting her life to Charlotte.

Now, if she fell in love again and decided to marry, wouldn´t it take a rare and special man to take on Tracy, her daughter and the memories, still plain to see, of Les?

Does such a man exist?

I absolutely adored Les Dawson - he always reminded me of my own beloved Dad.

I hope his widow does fall in love again, and being the man that Les was, I'm sure he would have wanted her to eventually. As to the man she married being 'special' - no more special than any man or woman who marries a widow(er) who adored their deceased spouse. Les certainly would take some following though....

Adore is one end of the spectrum.....but to make a shrine of the home is the other end of the spectrum.................that is my point.

I suspect that, if and when, she does meet someone else and invite him into share her house and life - the shrine will be culled down somewhat. Maybe restricted to the odd photograph or two - and the other mementoes given to her daughter or stored away.

Like Anne says, for now maybe she is quite happy to carry on her existing ways. But she does seem a lovely lady, so I hope she doesn't grow old alone with just memories of Les to look back on.

Brings back memories, When the kids were a lot younger we'd settle down on a Sat, night together to watch Les Dawson. It was one of the times when the family was one.
We'd have our 'nosh' nuts, nibbles naughties & drinks, it was a ritual. Aahhh! good times.

And Jem, there was'nt a swear word in sight. Now I swear like a trooper, but feel nowdays the comedians lean on swearing too much to get a laugh. The likes of Les Dawson never had to do this, they just had pure comical genius.
