Why is this?

If they could only gain the same admiration from some of their fellow countrymen?
I recently posted on another thread, why it is that some ABers can say that to see those miners come out of their 'hell hole', brought tears to their eyes?
Yet when our own brave troops return home from their 'hell hole' after 6 months away from their loved ones, and to see their little children also in tears, because daddy is home safe and sound, they do not show the same sentiment?
These are your own country men, who have woken every day during that 6 months, wondering if that day would be their last, and their wives, children, girlfriends, family and friends wondering everyday they were away if they would ever see them again.
Yes parallels between the two events can be drawn, but it is the situation of the miners that seemed to grab the hearts of some, why is this?
