Go back to BT. They keep phoning me about returning to them for £5 anytime phone calls including 0845 and 0870 and another £5 for Broadband. In addition is the line rental.
I am locked into a contract with AOL for free anytime phone calls including Broadband for £15.99 a month.
Thanks Stargazer and kate, but I think you only get basic sky sports with BT and as I said its not the phone that's expensive its the channels, I forgot to say I have HD as well.
kate, you said you have sky HD, phone, sports and movies but said your land line is BT, how come you have both?
I just moved house and bt couldn't connect me for weeks they said....I had relatives in hospital so I went with sky who could fit sooner ( for which bt install's the line anyway????????) Bills are £70-80 all in for calls, broadband, and tv don't have sports just standard plus movies.Sky advertises £20 on the tv for this package but this is in 'limited areas' they say on the phone...talk about mis- advertisement. I live in the sticks so the phone exchange's are limited, because sky has to pay the owner of the local exchange for it's use thats why they have to charge me more. In the end because BT didn't want me to swap to Sky they delayed sky installing the line, so I would have have BT installed quicker and it would have been cheaper with bt in the end but I hate how bt control everything,
I am also with Sky and agree how the costs seem to mount up. However, if you ring and go through the teleohone automated options until you get to the option about ''leaving sky'' they will do anything to retain your custom. I ring them every 6 months and my latest offer was free line rental for 6 months, half price broadband, and TV. Basically my Sky bill has halfed from £56 to £28 for next 6 months. At that point I will ring and ask for another offer. As they say, if you dont ask, you dont get.
Have you thought about loosing any channels? I dont have Sports or Movies so this may be able to save some.
With regards to telephone calls - have you got the pay £5 a month for unlimited calls? This does exclude mobiles but means all landline numbers are free day and evening and that saves a lot.
Hope this helps!
I called Orange today and its a lot cheaper by £10 a month with 3 months free and a £25.00 credit but not sure if they are any good. Has anybody used them?
I also phoned Skye to say I might discontinue the phone and broadband but they said they couldn't offer any deal to make it cheaper.
We've had the family package since the early days which has no movies or sports channels plus unlimited broadband, free calls to anywhere you'd ever want to call both national and international and reduced line rental.
We just have to watch the kids phoning mobile numbers.
I probably should have said at the outset that I'm a bit tight but I have to say that compared to the bills we used to get, I'm happy to pay the monthly charges.
Well, er, yes/no. They like doing sport but not sitting with the relics watching it and movies, well that's another debate entirely.
And it's Sky's title, not mine. :)
