... he escaped from his cage on the way back from the vets this evening. OH and I have spent six hours combing the thick hedges, to no avail. He's either lying very low or has legged it (and is hopefully doing the Incredible Journey and finding his way back home..) - we are sad. We're going back up there first thing in the morning.

You could put out posters and state clearly when they will be removed. What the council dont seem to like is posters left to litter up the place. Good luck boxtops and fingers crossed he hasn't found another billet. Cats are brilliant at that as you know.
boxy I don't know whether anyone has suggested this but I wonder if one of the people who have contacted you with sightings of him would be kind enough to let you put up a trap in their garden. Surely the nearer the trap to the last place he was seen the greater your chances of success? Just a thought.

Thanks ladybirder - one problem with that would be that there are loads of cats in that area, it would be impossible not to catch the wrong cat - and once the trap is sprung, nobody else can get in! No news today but we remain hopeful.
I haven't read back through all the threads, Boxy, but when putting posters up, did you offer a small reward ? its a long shot, but you never know.
Boxtops!!! Everytime I see you have posted I think it's going to be to tell us that he is back!!! Really hope he is back soon - everything is crossed.
Question Author
Yes indeed DEN - we have the animals insured and the insurance company will pay out on a reward payment, excellent idea. I had three under-8s round me last time I went looking for him, trying to work out how much they would each get if they found him together!
Question Author
Thats EK - don't worry, if there is good news, there will be a jubilation post!
Yes I check too when I see your post. I hope you find him.
Have you tried standing in the car park with a megaphone ? Or get the BBQ out and waft food smells in his general direction ? Police helicopter ?

It is a pity that the microchips don't allow us to track a lost animal. I have to walk along a very busy road to get to my Vet - I have to keep checking that it is locked. The little monsters are fast when they want to be.

I hope that he is home soon.
Question Author
Thanks everyone - we are hoping he will use his cat GPS, stars, whatever, to find his way home.

Crumbs lankeela - thank you! - I would certainly be interested if they develop an under-the-skin one. Since Rover has nearly hung himself twice with traditional collars, I wouldn't have thought of a collar-based one (indeed have never felt the need until now!).
Been following your post Boxy- still nothing? :-(
Question Author
Aww no, B00, it's nearly a week now. There is so much optimism that he's finding his way home - I've flyered and postered and all but now we are sit-and-wait mode. Even the postmen and the dustmen are looking out for him, people have been great.
A fire broke out this weekend, Sunday night, at Upton Park. Realising all was lost the chairman said: "Quickly, grab the silverware!" so all the stewards ran into the kitchen!
sorry wrong thread there....lol (must be losing it)
Don't think I can suggest anything that hasn't already been said.....just want to say how sorry I am to read that the wee puss is missing and I hope he'll be home, safe and sound, soon.

Everything crossed. x

LOL DT, nice to lighten the mood!! ;-)

Thanks mrsC, he's a feisty chap who can look out for himself, but we'd still like him home. The house is very peaceful without him!
