Loss of fur and irritation

My eighteen month old female cat has perfect health but recently I have noticed a loss of fur at the back end of her tummy and inside her back legs.The fur round her bottom is normal but there is a small patch at the base of her tail.
She has been Frontlined and wormed (although she is due now for a new dose) and in every other way she is healthy.

I feel a vet visit is necessary.
It could be overgrooming caused by stress, or flea allergy.
One of our monsters started pulling his fur out along his back about a year ago, he has always had flea treatment but the vet is sure it's flea allergy. Tried injections - no good, now on steroid tablets but still pulling out fur.
Not a good advert for our cattery business.

I would agree that it could be a flea allergy but you need to take her to the vet.

hardy49 you say your cat has been Frontlined. Frontline used to work on my cat and now it doesn't. If you google 'Frontline not working" you will see lots of people having the same problem. My vet told me lots of cats are now immune to it, so if your cat has fleas, and it sounds as if she has, then Frontline could be the reason. I now use Advocate and it is excellent. And of course if it's fleas you will have to treat your home as well.
