Dog has bad tummy and irregular stool.
My whippet x italian greyhound is nearly 12 months old now. She's a bitch, had a season at the start of May and has otherwise been fine. We went on a short break to Scotland on 3rd and 4th of june s le her with a home boarder as i thought this may be less stressful for her than kennels. Since she came back she has had a bad stomach, which I put down to nerves. She is generally okay, little quiet sometimes and a bit shivery but she'll play and run about etc. She is drinking water normally and is hungry, I feeding her little and often and she is now on day 4 of just chicken and rice. She has had a couple of poos that were a bit solid but they were bright green and yellow and then it returned to squitty. She looks like she is straining but then produces very little. I've read up a bit and believe it could be 'collitus' - does that sould right and does anyone else have experience of this condition. She is booked in the vets for tomorrow, I just wondered what people thought and what treatment i may expect?

A few days later he was diagnosed with Colitis (sp?) and needed extra Metronidazole. Please get your dog to the vet asap. Alfie's colon was on the point of rupturning when he had surgery - any longer and he wouldn't be here now.
Why are you feeding her four times a day twice would be enough. Sounds like she is not getting the chance to digest it before you are pushing more into her. If its colitis it will have a slimy film over it, and the treatment will just be antibiotics for a week or so. Is she having any treats or extras, these may be upsetting her.
My dog was not at the vet earlier because I didn't feel it necessary, she is othewise quite fine and i put it down to her nerves being off due to us going away. I have fed her 4 really small meals a day of chicken aand rice because this is what my vet advised me to do over the phone. I am ensuring she is not dehydrated and we'll see what the verdict is tomorrow, hoping it's nothing much :-(. And no, I've not given her 1 sinlge treat for a good few days now.
