Spaying my dog
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me, I want to have my pup spayed, but cannot afford the £170 that my vets has said it costs, I am not entitled to any discounts as I am a student and do not qualify for anything. I was wondering if anyone knew of any organisations that help with the costs of the operation. Thanks all :)

You need to have them done at around 6 months [which imo is too early] or wait until three months after the first season is finished. With that in mind, could you not save up for the op or pay it off in advance at your vets?

What breed of dog do you have? I know it depends on weight but I have been quoted £110 for my bitch to be spayed so I think it does vary quite a bit from vet to vet. As said, ideally you should wait unitl your bitch had has had her first season (is it a 'she') before so even if you put £20 a month away or so, it wouldn't seem such a big amount. I ould speak to the RSPCA, Dogs Trust and PDSA and any local independant charities - if they are unable to help, they'll usually advise you can - without criticising, they tend to try to do this anyway so do try and not be palmed off easily. Good luck!
where do you live ? because in East London there is Celia Hammond rescue and though her main interest is cats they do spay dogs at a much reduced rate.
This might sound daft but have you rung other vets to check prices ? I think the PDSA only accept people on benefits and you have to prove it.You could ring Battersea Dogs home and ask do they have a list of vets/organisations that may help.
