Flea problem please please need help

My dog had fleas beginning of June, been to vet 3 times since and after 3 flea treatments (Frontline twice and recently Advantix) still has fleas, had house done twice as well, please please can any1 help, I am slowly going off my head

We had two rescue kittens who had fleas and Frontline worked great, but we also bought a flea spray from the vet at £16 to treat the carpets and bedding. We have never had a problem since, and that was about two years ago. That said, we apply flea treatment every three months.

Iv had guy in to treat house which he has done twice, as my daughter was getting bitten but she has had no more bites since house was done 1st time which would be 2 weeks ago but even he says it is not a problem in house so it must be my dog as I use a flea comb and am getting about half a dozen off him every day.

The drops we use last for three months and kill fleas as the cats get them.

Yup, fleas fried with garlic in butter, very tasty.

garlic does help - and tea-oil on your infected bits - usually lower legs?

We have fed our 3 dogs garlic in their meals for the last two years, we honestly have not seen a flea in that time. I normally will never accept herbal remedies but this is certainly working for our dogs.

keep going with flea comb and don't use frontline - it is useless and it doesn't work. advantage is good stuff - and cheaper off the internet than the vets - your dog may have had a major infestation that will take a while to shift. try some drops of tea tree oil on the back of your dogs neck also, rather than repeating another flea treatment so soon x

How much would I give him Ratter15, I will try anything, this problem is really getting me down, as I can cope with most things life throws at me but fleas is not 1 of them

Alid5, I'm not having a pop at the guy you had in because I know that fleas can be very difficult to get rid of, but how does he know that the fleas are not in the carpet?

When he treated the house,
did he actually spray every square inch of the carpet in every single room, especially around the edges of the rooms,under all the furnishings including under the beds?
Is he a certified pest controller? What did he treat the property with?
he should have left you this info in a leaflet or maybe on the receipt. Were you told that you must not vacuum the carpets for 14 days?
Did he warn you that your vacuum is full of fleas and it should be emptied and cleaned outdoors?

I'm really interested to know how he is so sure that the carpet doesn't still have fleas.

Did he guarantee his work?

May I ask how much he charged?

Oh, another thing, do any of your rooms have carpets laid on top of carpets? I dont mean rugs or mats, im talking wall to wall.

You need ADVOCATE or STRONGHOLD, both of these are excellent. I had exactly the same experience with Frontline. Don't waste any more money on it. Trouble is if your dog still has fleas then your house will get infected again and you may need to buy RIP from the vet. This is a spray that you spray everywhere and it kills the fleas and the eggs when they hatch. You may need to do it for 2/3/4 weeks. Bl00dy Frontline, I'd ban it.

We give our dogs about 1 small clove a day but bear in mind our dogs weigh about 10 stone each.

Personally I would never buy any carpet treatment from the vets, you would never believe how many houses I have treated for fleas for people that have already paid hundreds of pounds on these treatments and failed, they were then totally gobsmacked for me to treat the house for 1 quarter of the price with a guaranteed treatment, a less toxic treatment and no smell at all. Of course these treatment will work sometimes but they are very expensive to treat a house following the directions on the can.

Nosha, to be honest I don't know, Google it, I'm sure you will find plenty of info on it, its been a recognised treatment for dogs for many years.

Nosha, yes it is apparently toxic to cats, some are even saying its also toxic for dogs.

Ladybirder >>>Bl00dy Frontline, I'd ban it<<< many people swear by it, I always recommended it as a Pest Control Officer, I think there is resistance building up in certain areas but other areas it is still the best thing since sliced bread.
