12 week old kitten swellingand redness arond anus

hi i have a 12 week old kitten who recently has started sleeping alot yesterday i noticed his back passage was red and swollen he eventually pooped and the swelling went away. today the swelling and redness returned gradually throughout the day until he went for a poop at night and again it has gone away again can anyone give me some advice on what this is and possibly why my kitten has this?

Take him to the vet, it's probably very painful for him - don't let it go on without proper treatment.

I agree you need to go to the vet. Off the top of my unprofessional head it sounds like it could be a prolapse (where part of his inner anus is popping out)

How is your kitten now heather? What did the vet say?

i have an appointment for him on tuesday pdsa will not look at him as he is outwith the duristiction for them he is a wee bit better but its gradually during the day that the swelling returns. periodically i hold a piece of toilet paper with cold water to it to try calm it down but still is just pooping once a day. i thought myself that it may be a prolapse thank you all for your response will keep updated once have seen the vet x
