Cat's Bald Back Legs..
12 Answers
Perry (the cat) has been nibbling away at his back legs (inside and out) which has resulted in bald patches. They're not hot, red, sticky or smelly... but I'm a bit worried that when we take him to the cattery in July for his 'holiday/incarceration' the owner might reject him as it could be something more sinister than just an irritation... Would a fleeting trip to the vet just to confirm it's nothing serious be wise..?

Is he bored ?
Have you changed his food recently, could be allergy to something new ?
You could try giving him an antihitamine (half of a Clarityn tab) once a day and see how he gets on, my vet recommended Clarityn to me for my cat's itchyness and within a couple of days he was no longer itchy and his fur grew back.

Hopefully its nothing to worry about, when this happened with my cat, they wanted to run all sorts of skin tests at my old vets for a ridiculous amount and i ask for a second opinion and they said it was nothing to worry about, we're forever finding white fluff everywhere where my cat pulls it all out.
Well, a remarkably 'scratch free' visit to the vets this afternoon.. only to be told that there's nothing wrong and it's a 'bad habit'.. all for the costly sum of £14. Peace of mind that he's not going to get turned away from the cattery on the morn of our holiday.. Doesn't stop me feeling guilty every time I look at him knowing I'm leaving him and he doesn't have a clue.. bless his sweaty paws....
Lol boxy.. Didn't feel I could rely/put upon the neighbours given the amount of wildlife he slaughters and brings home.. not very fair on them to be frank! But the girl at the cattery assures me he's fine.. Mind you she puts him in the pen across from the bloody chickens! I'm surprised he's not bloody Jack Nicholson by the time we get him back!!!!
