Cats And Ribbon
Late Sunday afternoon my darling Ziggi chewed off a piece of meshy ribbon about 4 inches long and then swallowed it ! So far he's eating ok and tearing round the house as usual and we're watching his motions, nothing so far but would taking him to the vet at this stage be any use ?
Once he stopped eating, showed any sign of distress or stopped passing motions, we'd be there like a shot, but is there any point at this stage ?
Needless to say all ribbon has been removed

The cod liver oil is an excellent idea from Tambo - what I would suggest though is: If you spot it coming out and it doesn't come out freely, don't be tempted to pull it as it might do some damage to the intestines (it will mean having a mucky cat for a bit, might have to keep him indoors until it's fully out so it doesn't get caught on the neighbours brambles)
All the best for you and Ziggy

Friend of mine had a kitten that wasn't eating last week and looked very subdued - visit to the vets didn't find anything so they were told to monitor her. She kept pawing at her mouth and they took her back to the vet who did an x-ray and found a needle embedded in her tongue, with the thread still attached which she had swallowed! It was removed quite easily and had it not gone into her tongue she would have been in serious trouble. Owner now being very careful where she puts her needlework.
