New dog at last - mentioned this last night. His name is Maxie. Cream dont know breed - lady said half bichon and half shih tzu. His legs are far too long.

Anyway thanks to God - he is an affectionate thing coming up and wanting to give wee kisses. Loves loves loves to turn around and get his tummy rubbed.

Hasn't been looked wherever was as his nails are atrocious and his fine fur falling over his eyes. He has a checkup with vet tomorrow and then a good groomer and then he will be as good to go.

Any - unlike Mr Harv Maxie doesn't like balls which I went out bought rubber toys and these rubber balls. I have noticed his likes to catch on to things - things that I would assume a cat. Anybody any ideas to make him interest.

Thanks

You could try him with one of those Tug O War pulling things, conne.
Get a "Kong" and fill it with dog treats.

would I get in Pet world.

I looked at cat world toys there and I think there would be one he would like rope with pieces of catnip - would the catnip be dangerous for him. Thanks
Doubt if he would be interested in the catnip, conne. Don't know if it would cause him harm though.

thanks Murray- maybe Maxie has come at the right time to take time off my brother etc. Funny dog and I am getting in to a routine of eating and toileting- lady said he was toilet trained - people can tell you anything. He seems a happy wee dog. Full of fun.

I slipped on Sunday night when going downstairs and missed the last 2steps so have strained ankle and toe - but it is easing good then he and I will get even a wee 30 minute walk.

Well Tony has very long legs and when rolls to expose tummy - want to grab and grab my hand
I'd get him a Tug O War rope then if I were you, conne.
My dog loves to 'kill' empty plastic water-bottles (remove cap). After dinner is 'bottling time'. Very glad you have found each other.
That's wonderful news,JJ...and it does seem he's come to you at the right time. Maybe he'd prefer soft toys, and those felty balls that are for cats. The Kong is a good idea also...just a tiny one.
There are loads to choose from ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_4?url=search-alias%3Dpets&field-keywords=kong%20toys%20dog&sprefix=kong%2Caps%2C573
conne so happy to hear you have a forever friend again. what age is he ? any pictures ? hope your ankle is improving, :)

I can't do pictures Anne - but I am going to get groomer to (after he has been groomed) to try and get him onto my email and maybe get on to this site.

He has cold black eyes with a black button mouth - and hasn't been looked after all. Long nails etc. But he has eased himself to me with great ease I thought he may be sad - he is downstairs listening to music - all warm and comfy. It feels great to be looking after something again. I get something from it.
Question Author
sorry Anne the seller says he is a year and was due to send me papers of injections etc. We will wait.
I'm so pleased for you conne,)
Welcome, Maxie. I hope you enjoy your precious time with JJ.
Question Author
Ah thank you Tillie - he doesn't seem to be used to sitting on settee so has settled for the floor so now he has a warm fluffy blanket round. God I think he loves it. He will rule me eventually. When I yell (playfully) to him hi Maxie - he comes over for a cuddle and oh I love him. Just can't wait for him to look presentable. deffo not cared for where he was before and he was with a family. nails really and fur blinding him. but he will be gorgeous next week.
Question Author
nails really sharp and long. ^^^^^
does he have an identity chip and had ' the snip' conne ?
Question Author
he has the snip and according to seller has been chipped - so will have to get that done tomorrow to my name.

also he seems to be scratching at his wee bottom a lot but I plastered with zinc and caster oil last night and he has got ease. but will point out this tomorrow.
I am so glad you took the plunge and did it. A dog brings so much to your life. I hope you have many happy years together!
