I took our elderly cat for his annual booster and check up today, which he absolutely detests.
You would think he would hold a grudge against me for it, but no.
He has settled on my lap as i write this, and is purring so loud he could wake the family.
Mines purrs when he is terrified - usually at the vet. Is he a good natured lad?
My boy Frankie is a nice boy but going to the vet freaks him out. He is asthmatic. His sister is vicious and stupid all in a fluffy and beautiful body. She has to be muzzled at the vet.
Awe bless him/her, cats are smarter and wiser than they're given credit for IMO good on you Hopkirk for looking out for him. How old may I ask... the cat that is.
However he is a demon if you try to administr a tablet.
I could easily pop a pill down the throat of our previous cat, but this one worked out how to twist so that it woukldn't drop down.
The vet tried to administer a worming tablet once, when I said we couldn't.
He got a lacerated wrist for his trouble, and then advised us to use the drops on the back of the neck instead.
They are fascinating animals. As long as you obey their orders all is well.
I have two small Prednisolone tablets to give to Frankie (in my avatar) each day. It is difficult and one day I will throttle him. I am sure that he laughs at me.
I adhere to their rules with the exception of I haven't managed to lick my own butt in their presence.
It is awful administration tablets to them (I look after bro's cats and being asked to this) I feel guilty after doing so... but fortunately they do trust me... and give me that look that only cats can... B***ard!
My 2 cats would sulk for days if I had to put them in the box to take them out.
I particularly remember the male splaying his limbs as far as possible to prevent being put in. It brings to mind a cartoon; Tom & Jerry or Garfield.
We needed at least 3 people to get him in, poor thing.
One of ours would leave a stinky poop in his cat box en route to vet, and then stinky poop again on way back home.
How on earth he could manage that is beyond me
Oh Alba, you have reminded me ours punished me for taking him to the vets that way once.
On the way home in his carry box he pushed one out and stood in it. The smell in the car was eye watering.
