Hi there,

I want to buy a small short wheel base SUV like a small suziki vitara, I would need to put the seats down to allow the dogs room, so I was thinking that I would attach my current dog guard (which is attached to the rear head rests) to the front headrests.

Is there anything that would stop me doing this law wise? Obviously I need to ensure that car is put back together for MOT time - but other than that any reason I can't do it?

Thank you in advance.

Nope. I have done this in most of my cars, sometimes permanently, sometimes temporarily while I waited for the cage to be delivered. Vitara seats fold down so provided you don’t need extra head room for the dogs, you won’t need to remove them. The only reason for putting it back to a four seater for MOT is so the rear seat belts can be checked. The only thing I...

The only thing I would say from horrid experience, is if you are going to fix the guard in a way that it wasn’t designed to be fixed then please do make sure that you fix it very very securely. I had one that collapsed on the dog, which was my fault entirely. He wasn’t hurt but it terrified him and he vented his anal glands in the car, poor boy.
Reasonably heavy duty Cable-ties work quite well
Motley, cable ties hold my life together!! Cable ties, duck tape and a fixative called CT1, my bodgers repair kit!...oh and Gorllla Glue and silicone pressure tape :)
Most girls use foundation, blusher, rouge etc...
ah but then I am not “most girls”......and never have been!
Our dog guard is attached to the front headrest and our previous cars go through not like it. No problems.

Thanks all - I was just concerned because I would be attaching it to the front seats as opposed to the rear seats.

Another reason ticked off as to why hubby can't say no to my new choice of car!!
Suzuki make good motors, I had an ancient 'T' reg Jimny which was fun to drive, good off road and cost flumppence to run. Son 2 is still running about in it now.
I loved my Jimney. The only reason I got rid was that the dogs grew out of it. Went on to Jeep Cherokee......lovely car but outrageous service and repair costs. Have now got a Rav4 which for me and dogs is perfect and the service from the local Toyota Garage is seriously without fault.
