This isn't a question but I just wanted to share something in the hope that it may encourage others to do the same. I'd been thinking about getting a cat for a while and although I thought briefly about getting a kitten from a breeder I quickly decided against it and instead went to Battersea Dogs & Cats home to get a rescue cat. It was the best decision I could possibly have made. I came away with 3 year old moggy called Sam who has settled in so well and has become the most loving, affectionate and well-behaved cat I've ever known. It has been so incredibly rewarding that I just want to advise anyone who may be thinking of getting a cat (or a dog) to get one from a rescue centre. I know not everyone's experiences are the same but there are so many animals out there who need loving homes, please help them. Thank you!

:-) glad he is settling in well :-)
we got a dog from a rescue home, a right pain in the arse she is, but very loving . . . unless u happen to be a small dog :-s
My much adored cat also came from a rescue centre and it was the best decision I ever made. He's an absolute sweetie and the most affectionate cat I've ever met!

<<LOUD APPLAUSE>>> Good for you. Where I work they do not sell cats or dogs, they never have and never will. When someone asks me on where to get a pet I ALWAYS send them to the rescues or Animal Shelters, and tell them to check out a website ( petfinders.com ) dedicated to finding homes for animals http://www.petfinder.org/ , if anyone wants to see a small representation of how many homeless pets there are should check this website out. All you need is a zip code from your area and it will show you all the rescues and shelters in your area that have pets to adopt.

Not sure if this works in the UK, but anyone on here that is reading from the USA, check it out. If you fellow readers ( from the UK)want to check it out, I can give you some zip codes to input so you can see how it works if your curious and don't know any zip codes from here: 47714, or 92115, or 95825. Check it out, it is one of the best websites with pets.
