I feed my dog half dry food and half wet food, but he gets tired of them really quickly I know its not a good idea to keep changing his diet, mine started off on james well beloved, then harringtons, he starts off ok on them then after a few weeks he wont eat them, I change the flavours tried gravy on the food, but still he refuses to eat them, after a while, hes only fed once a day and if it sits there to long I take it away, and refrigerate it

Hello Fruitsalad, my dogs have always been fed Royal Canin. I never wet it but they always have a bowl of water by it. They have chicken as a snack. Dogs are like children and will try it on. Try Royal Canin for your breed, and see how you get on. Good luck
Try popping it in the oven to warm through just slightly, mine get bored too, I add some human leftovers so they think they are getting a treat
Why isn't it a good idea to give a dog variety? Mine have to have a specific dry food because I have to be careful over allergies, but they get human meat or fish mixed with it or one of several varieties of wet food from the same manufacturer (Forthglade) and a variety of biscuits and crunchy snacks. i get bored with the same diet, why would they not?
For Sally, the dry is usually Burns lamb or turkey. I mix it with any of these moist...Forthglade, James Wellbeloved, Barking Heads...plus some leftovers if there are any. She's not a fan of too much dry so I never give a lot.
Agreed Woof, I feed my dogs anything and everything, including raw, cheap stuff from Aldi's, scraps and more reputable dog food, they're not picky eaters possibly for that reason, and everything we have seems to live forever x
I forgot to mention I also add in either human beef mince, or I use the frozen Nature's Menu dog mince. She loves the tripe. And I agree...there is no reason why dogs shouldn't want and get variety. If they had to hunt, they'd not have the same every day.
dogs will eat anything if there is competition for food; mine are on mince pies atm ;)
Tambo, I hope that's a joke as mince pies are dangerous for dogs.
The most valid dog ancestor theory at the minute is that they developed from the same ancestor as the wof but the dog ancestor was more inclined to bond wioth humans. They benefitted from the partnership because they could feed off the human middens which were a combination of food scraps and ermmm human excrement!
they were for the horses but dogs tucked in; hopefully just pastry.
Oh lord...all those raisins!!
Dogs can eat mince pies .. Tesco sell them when they have stock.
