Sudden Snarling In His Sleep!

My 14 Year Old Westie has suddenly started waking jumpy and snarling violently from a dead sleep, the cat who shares his basket doesn’t respond nor does his brother who shares the room!! He shows no pain, worms or fleas? Any ideas?

Nightmares ?

I agree with OG. Nightmares can be a sign of dementia in an old dog. There are meds from the vet that may help, Vivitonin is good, might be worth popping along for a chat.

I wonder about nightmares too, I have recienty lost my mum and Deefa lost his grandma, and am felling pretty plug too if I’m honest, I’m also with nightmares but without valleys you don’t get mountain I’m strong but sad,

I am sorry for your loss....my suggestion is still to talk to the vet about canine dementia.

I did think about possibly start of Dementia (my dog not me I hope!j But he is 14 yo Westie with no other signs than eating more a few sleeping lots, and really just needs small 20min walks

In my opinion its worth getting it checked out. You would want to help your dog if you can wouldn't you?
