This morning I noticed a red cats collar on the patio. It was still fastened and had a disc giving cats name Arnie, and a phone number.
We don't have a back garden as such. We have a patio edged by a wall that also runs close to our conservatory. We see cats walking along the wall quite often, and they like looking in on us.
The previous night I had noticed a black cat walking along the wall several times.
I phoned the number on the disc. When answered he confirmed he had a cat
Called Arnie, I mentioned the collar and he said they had been looking for it for a few days. He is coming to collect it tomorrow.
Later I started to think of this, he has been looking for it a few days, I found it this morning, where has it been in those few days. Also how did it come to be off the cat when it is securely fasten?

Cats are very clever at removing their collars or it could have caught on something and pulled off
I'm not sure how quick release collars work but if it's a magnet it could have clipped back together.
It’s not difficult for a cat to lose a collar - we spend a fortune on collars and tags. They can wiggle out of them quite easily.

It's not a quick release one. It's hard to work it out but I think you put it on the cat and fasten it up securely then. It has to buckle type things on it.
There is ‘wriggle room’ when you put a collar on so that the cat can wriggle out of the collar if it gets entangled.

But what about the time difference, he has been looking for it a few days, I found it this morning?
lol cats can wiggle out of the collars with their paws - its quite amazing to watch the little devils do it!
Maybe a Magpie found it and couldn't carry it any further, as they do like shiney things.
Has the owner been looking for the cat or for the collar?
