Training Outdoor to Indoor cat to use litter tray
Hi i have had my cat for about 12 years now after getting her as a stray cat, she has been living outside for 12 years and just this year we have brang her in the house.
Now the problem i am getting is that one day she will use the litter tray and the next she wont, the tray is placed in the laundry and i also feed her in the laundry but not next to the tray, her bowl is about 2 meters from the tray, i have both there because there is no where else that mum will allow me to put both things.
Anyway she will use the litter box one day and then go onto the mat in the kitchen or somewhere on the carpet upstairs, i clean where she does her business but then she will go somehwere else, also its strange because a few times she was about to do her business right next to me! Now i thought she would want to do it in a orivate place!
3 days ago i caught her about to go so i picked her up and placed her on the box then she walked away, and looked for another spot, i picked her up again and put her on the box and then she used, the next day i changed to fresh litter and she used again for a few days no problems, even today she used it, then just before i found she went on the kitchen mat again, why?
Also i find that when she is in the laundry and finished eating she will use the tray but when she is upstairs or somewhere not near the laundry its like she dosnt ackonoledge the tray is there or she can not be bnothered using it.
What should i do, can she be tought?
Thankyou

It could be the location is not ideal for her, she may not be able to make it from upstairs to down to get to the box, maybe your not keeping it as clean as she would like it, since there is so much that may be going on or maybe just one thing it would be hard ot type allot of info on here.. it would be best if you went to a Great website about cats .. check out
