Just heard from the vet that Smokey has an aggressive blood cancer.
So its palliative care for the next few weeks.

Oh, I'm so sorry. He's elderly if I'm not mistaken. I hope whatever time he has left is as comfortable as possible. x

He's 13 so a fair age. And, yes, he will be spoilt rotten. He's ok at the moment - eating like a horse and trying to start fights with his brother.

So sorry Messalina. It's hard to let go but I know you won't let him suffer. I had to have my 4 year old Bobbi put to sleep in 2019 after he suffered a brain haemorrhage. He purred as I stroked while the needle went in. At least I know he died happy so I hope you get the chance to do that as well. Be strong and best wishes to both of you.

Unfortunately we're not allowed into the surgery at the moment so if the end comes soon we won't be able to in with him

I had to put Frankie to sleep at the beginning of December and we had to say our goodbyes in the vet's car park.

We are living in strange times but I wish that I had been able to stay with him to the end.

They should try breeding cats and dogs with longer lifespans.
