Allowing children to vote is a spectactularly bad idea - although I know why Labour would like it. I was left-leaning when I was in the Sixth Form, and I think most chidlren are because they haven't experienced the real world.

 

If Labour were to reduce the voting age to 16, then it stands to reason all of the other rights one gets when reaching the current majority must also be reduced to 16 like, for example, being able to go into a pub and get drunk, get a tattoo, buy fags etc... If children are allowed to vote, then they should be legally allowed to do these things as well, and if not why not?

The voting age should be raised if anything. Also only those that contribute to society should be able to vote. Labour favour giving kids the vote because they know that young people are generally left wing until they get assets.

Surely, if they let kids vote, it'll only ever kids that vote for them in the future. That'll suck when an adult selected party gets in and returns voting rights back on a sane footing.
