How do I quit a job?
2 Answers
I've been in my new job for over a month now, but I know it's not for me. I don't feel accepted here either. Despite that, they plan to invest lots of time in training me for this job. I'm on a contract which runs out soon, but they plan to extend it. How can I resign without feeling guilty?

If your problem is personal - not being accepted - havea word with your immediate supervisor and see if there is a way forward. Personal issues that involve personality clashes are often down to communication problems, and can be resolved once both sides get together and talk things over, but do that via your supervisor, rather than tackling it yourself. If you feel the job is not right for you, why not speak again to your supervisor, and ask if it is possible for you to be re-assigned to something more suitable, but make sure you have a specific idea of the problems you face, and an idea of your future career path, which will show intention to do the best thing for you and your employer, rather than some vague notion that things are 'not for you'. Both these solutions offer an answer to our difficulties, and neither of them involve resignation, which is still an option once these avenues have been explored. If you have tried personal and professional redevelopment, and not been successful, then you should find you can resign without feeling guilty.
you don't in answer to your last question, as they have you feeling that way already but with regard to the legality of your situation you should read your contract VERY carefully. Normally within six months you can leave by just giving one weeks notice which increases on a scale with time spent in the company up to a max of (usually) one month. Why not ask your boss as andy suggests for a new position within the company as they obviously value you to go to the trouble of training and giving you a new contract. anyway best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
