Hey i have an 8 week old lionhead lop rabbit and got her from the pet shop last week. The petshop i got her from is pretty good they give all the animals an all over test before they are sold...unfortunately she was quite underweight and wanted to keep her in until the sunday. I went down sunday and apparently she had been eating fine and was ok to take home althought she is underweight i was told to keep an eye on her and bring her back if she wasnt eating. She currently weighs 0.545 kg, and her recomended weight is 0.8 kg. Apparently the reason she is sosmall is because she is very timid and they believe the guinea pigs may have taken all her food whilst in the petshop. She has been feeding on rabbit mix food, carrots, celery and hay and these small hay ball things also for rabbits. Does anyone recomend anything to help fatten her up a little faster (as healthy and rabbit friendly as possible) as i hate seeing her so skinny.
Any advice would be great

As long as she is eating and getting enough water she will be ok . Ours likes to eat apples. If you see a rabbit without its fur on they`re not that fat. Just enjoy her in a couple of weeks you`ll be wondering why you were worrying.

Aw cheers for that im just so attached to her so worrying.yep she loves apples but i was told she shouldnt eat too many of them?
You can get lots of treats for rabbits and like treats for humans they do tend to put the weight on us if we eat too many.

My bunny likes yogurt drops that come in lots of different favours, I get them for a normal uk pet shop. It does sate a limit on the box to feed them per day for examplt 2-3 drops a day.

If you put these in her food bowl with her mix food I 'm sure that would work well.

Thats real good. If there is a Wilsons Pet store near you i paid 40 pound for a 4ft hutch starter kit with a large bag of hay, sawdust and a drinking bottle! Apparently they are really easy to train and they practically toilet train themselves when given a tray - i saw some rabbit litter crystals in the pet shop today which attracts them to do there business on there...only 3 pound for a large bag might be worth a try?
i will have to get some of that litter stuff...lol we let ours roam in the kitchen and outside on sunday she loved it. it was trying to catch her was the problem....all good fun though we got an inside rabbit hutch my hsuband will get round to making her an outdoor one....one fine day x
